Once upon a time, I thought yellow shoes were taboo. Yellow flats? Mmmm... maybe. But yellow heels? Absolutely not. In fact, I'm still kind of leery to wear these mustard suede beauties at times. But when I saw them in orange on Kendi, her bravery convinced me to let my inhibitions go and try it, especially since they were (and still are!) on sale. I started playing around with them and was surprised that they worked with so many items I already had. On that note: I, Typhanie Stewart, admit that mustard yellow heels are not wrong... just different! ;)
I've also learned to apply the "not wrong, just different" line to many other areas in life, and you know what? It allows me to understand and appreciate the perspectives of others, be patient, and ultimately rise above conflict. The end goal is unity. Try it and comment below... I'd love know what you think.
(Great study of Romans Ch. 14 here)
hey typh. my disclaimer is that most of my comments will be personal, hope that is ok...what comes to mind for this blog topic for me is re: the marriage series that we're having now @ church. it has made me appreciate gavin in a different light...before, I would be guilty of trying to get him on my page instead of embracing our differences. I am doing better and our home is as well as a result. So different isn't always bad or the enemy as you have stated. different is just...well, different.
ReplyDeleteYes! I agree! It's the same for Dwayne and me :) Thanks for the comment!
DeleteSheri at least you posted a disclaimer, I sure didn't lol
ReplyDeleteI too am amazed at the concept that neither Kirby or I are wrong, we're just different! It has put my marriage into an even better position to thrive :D
