It's Settled

Top: Forever 21 | Skirt: Mossimo for Target | Shoes: Old Navy | Crossbody: Thrifted, Ninewest via Plato's Closet

Stripes and pleats? Yes, please!

It's settled... One of my new favorite combos, like peplums and pencil skirts (here and here).

Out of the Ordinary

Top: Marshall's | Skirt: Forever 21 | Shoes & Clutch: Ninewest

I am aware that it is out of the ordinary to wear a coral shade of pink and cream in the fall, but I really like this shirt I recently picked up in Marshall's (for $12!!)... Plus, I just felt like brightening things up a bit. The weather in Florida has been nothing short of perfect, and I brag about it choose to acknowledge it by wearing whatever I want regardless of the season.

Take that, fall!

Ready

Top: Forever 21 | Skirt: Mossimo for Target | Belt: Forever 21 | Shoes: Aldo | Clutch: Aldo

I wore this outfit the Sunday before last. After fighting to get my unruly hair into a bun and debating with myself about which belt to wear, I turned to my husband with a look of uncertainty...

He smiled wide, nodded in approval, and said, "You're ready!"

Affirmation for the day? Check.

Thankful

These are our "full and happy about it" faces. Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Uniform

Top: Zara | Vest: Old Navy | Skirt: East 5th, JC Penney | Shoes: Qupid (Gift)

I feel accomplished when I throw a cute outfit together easily in minutes. How do I do it? I pull out a few pieces in heavy rotation, and before I know it, I'm ready to go.

When it comes to shopping, I try to look for items that I can work and rework to get the most combinations and wear out of them as possible. If something catches my eye, before I get too excited about it, I think, "Hmmm... What are five other items I already have that I could wear with this?" An added bonus to building a working closet by using this approach is that it becomes easier to travel light if everything you own can be paired with at least five other things.

Here I'm wearing my casual "conquer the day" uniform: a simple tee or top, a denim skirt, and a large shoulder bag. I added the vest and wedges to spruce it up a bit since I was spending the day in Orlando with the husband :)

Pluto and me at breakfast :)

Do you have any smart shopping tips before Black Friday rolls around? Feel free to comment
and share.

Oh, and happy Thanksgiving!

Gone Forever

Shirt: Forever 21 | Skirt: Forever 21 | Shoes: Zara | Clutch: Forever 21

"Lost... Yesterday... Somewhere between sunrise and sunset... Two golden hours, each set with sixty diamond minutes. No reward is offered, for they are gone forever." - Horace Mann

While we don't have yesterday, and we won't have forever, the great news is we can make
the most of today :)

Just two days until Thanksgiving! It's my favorite holiday.
What are you thankful for?

Quick Getaway

Cardigan: Express | Camisole: Charlotte Russe | Skirt: Tahari, Foxy's | Shoes: Guess
Clutch: Express | Brooch: New York & Company

Oh, hello.

Forgive me for the impromptu break from the blog. As I mentioned in my last post, we've been going, going, going non-stop, so the husband and I decided it was time for a quick getaway. We spent a couple of nights at a hotel in Orlando (hence the hotel lobby chair shots) and had the perfect mix of rest and activity.

Sometimes you just need a break.

This Is How We Do It

Cardigan: Target | Camisole: Forever 21 | Skirt: Forever 21 | Shoes: Urban Outfitters | Bag: Ross

Shirt: H&M | Tie: Ben Sherman | Pants: Express | Shoes: Aldo | Belt: Salvatore Ferragamo | Sunglasses: Ray-Ban

If you're curious about my over-edited sleepy eyes in these photos, please... let me explain:

Photo taking, of late, has been quite a challenge. Our schedules have been sooo packed, but my husband/super-spectacular-multi-talented photographer and I try our best to make outfit posts happen. Like many mornings, we woke up "before day" (as Jamaicans would say) to take photos, and then we rushed off to start our days at work. I LOVE blogging though, and Dwayne loves me, so we don't complain :)

SN: I thought Dwayne looked too nice to only stand behind the camera, so I snapped a few pictures of him as well. I promise you, we had no intention of coordinating... It just happened!

Husband Appreciation

Today, I just want to use this platform to show appreciation to my husband, Dwayne Stewart.

If you follow me on twitter or saw my comments on Pinky Promise (OR if you actually had the opportunity to join us!) you will recall that last week was The Movement, and my husband (with the help of the Lord and his team) absolutely outdid himself! I'm so proud of him!

Babe, I personally want to thank you for being a blessing, and I'm excited to see what other amazing plans God has in store for you.

Love you!

Find me on Pentecostal Perspective

Today, I was given the opportunity to guest post and share on a topic that I'm very
passionate about: fashionable, modest dressing.

Check it out on the Pentecostal Perspective, a blog by Sean Gore.
Tell him I sent you :)

Serendipity

Top: Forever 21 | Skirt: Worthington for JCPenney | Shoes: Aldo | Clutch: Express | Brooch: Gift

I laugh at myself a lot. I'm a part-time worrier, full-time analyst, and overthinker who faithfully makes plans. I even make plans to plan. I have to-do lists, wish lists, reminders, and agendas to organize the madness in my brain; yet I notice that things hardly ever go as planned, but always as they should. Funny, right?

Happy accidents and pleasant surprises. Plans would be boring without them.

Literally

Dress: Ross | Cardigan: Ross | Shoes: Ninewest, Ross | Bag: Ninewest | Belt: Forever 21

The election is over, the people of the United States have chosen our President, and I'm wearing a literal animal print today. Life is good!

Regardless of whether or not you thought last night was a victory for this country, let us continue to do our part as citizens to honor, respect, and pray for those in leadership. We are still one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Walk in the Light

Top: The Limited | Skirt: Worthington for JCPenney | Shoes: Guess | Clutch: Thrifted, BCBG via Plato's Closet

First order of business: Today is election day. If you haven't already, please go out and vote.
No vote = No voice

Secondly, my photos are extra bright today. When I saw them, I was reminded of this scripture:
"...God is light, and in him is no darkness at all... if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin."

Happy Election Day!
