Mother-Son Moment

It's true... Unconditional love never truly flows out of you as effortlessly as when you have a child.

My little boy amazes me every day, not just because of the love that he pulls out of me, but because of the love he gives me back. He can't say it yet with his words, but his deep, knowing eyes and easy smile always let me know that everything is going to be OK. I don't deserve to be his mommy, but I sure am glad God chose me.

Family First

I thought it fitting for my first post of the year to feature what's dearest to me  my family. These photos are from an impromptu shoot we took today. We dressed Adam up in some new threads and decided he was too cute for us not to get in on the action. So, we made it a family thing for New Year's Day.
The way it should be.

Happy New Year, from my family to yours.

Adam Turns 1

Dear Adam,

Today, you are one year old.

As I am writing this, you are sitting in my lap hugging me and snuggling with me like your life depends on it. That's actually how you hug me all the time. It's amazing how your little arms can give such big, strong, affectionate hugs. And your little kisses... priceless. I pray your intentional displays of affection never get old, or that you never get too old, rather.

After just the first year of getting to know you, I can already tell that you are going to be a man whom I will be proud of one day. I'm already so proud of who you are now. You are smart, loving, friendly, intelligent, perceptive, care-free, curious, resilient, forgiving, trusting and hilarious! You are more than what your father and I could have ever thought to pray for, undeservedly so. You have an amazing gift of quietly commanding the attention of a room or capturing the heart of anyone with just one smile, making each and every person you come in contact with feel oh so special. It truly is a gift. You are a gift.

Adam, I speak for your father as well when I say that we are amazed that God has chosen us to be your parents. I love that we each have our own unique relationship dynamic with you. We've learned so much in the past yea too much to list here  about true love and gratitude, and you came just in time to teach us. We are forever indebted to God and you for those lessons here on this Earth. Thank you, baby.

Enjoy your day today, your first birthday. Laugh and have fun as we cherish, celebrate and thank God for you. I've already shed a few tears of joy, and I'm sure there are more to come. I'm so blessed to be your mom...

Today, you are one year old.

I love you.

Forever,
Your Mommy

Life Lately: Adam

Life lately has been preoccupied with work, home and this little guy. Adam turned 10 months on the 16th, and I can't believe how quickly the time has flown by. It seems like just yesterday I was telling you all that I was pregnant. Now, he is taking his first steps and already has five words in his vocabulary. He's friendly too. At not even a year old, he's incredibly gifted with people with an amazing ability to make each and every person feel special. He's made life quite spectacular. I'm so blessed to be his mommy.

Just wanted to drop a line here to show my guy some love on his birthday today! We're literally in the middle of a life-changing week  so many exciting things* are happening – so what better week for him to celebrate his birthday?

Dwayne, I love you forever! May this year be your best yet.

A Moment of Gratitude

I spent the entire weekend in a conscious state of gratitude. Lately, I've come across one too many tragic stories that have transformed my perspective on life. Naturally, I'm the type of person who tends to put a lot of thought into "what's going to happen" or "what should happen" without fully embracing the now. I can honestly say, having a son has totally changed that for me. Life for me now is a series of moments that are meant to be cherished as they are happening. What's better is that my son and I are blessed to have my husband Dwayne in our lives who makes embracing each moment that much more enjoyable.

If you follow me on Instagram, then you caught my boastful explanation of why Dwayne is such an noteworthy husband and father. I won't reiterate all of what I expressed here, but let's just say (*flips hair*), my "baby daddy" is worth boasting about. As I was going through these photos we took on Saturday morning at the park near our house, I kept thinking to myself just how amazing my little family is. The only word I can use to describe what my heart feels when I think about them is "grateful." Really... I'm just so grateful.

My Heart

Anniversary Trip to Jamaica

Last week, my husband and I celebrated our 4-year wedding anniversary by taking a family trip to Jamaica, just the three of us. It was a lovely time spent with friends and family who were excited about seeing us and meeting Adam. Well, let me be honest with myself... I'm sure they were more excited about meeting Adam. Either way, we had an amazing time.

We managed to steal away for a few days to a resort in Ocho Rios. (The photo above was the view from our room.) Rest and relaxation was the name of the game, and if you know me, those two things along with good food is all I need to have a great time. And so we did! Just sharing a few snapshots from the trip...

I just got this outfit!” // “I don’t think I like this” // Dunn’s River Falls // Family Shot // Father and son moment on the Falls // Adam, TKO // Obligatory photo at my grandmother’s house in Spanish Town

From My Heart to Yours

WE'RE EXPECTING!!!

This post is long overdue, I know. I sincerely apologize for being away for so long. The days turned into weeks, and the weeks into months, and I just didn't know how to come back and introduce you to our new addition. Please know that I've missed you all!

Life over the last few months has been interesting -- full of new surprises, lots of dreaming, and plenty of lessons learned along the way. More than anything, I can truly say that we are blessed. And excited! In just two months, the two of us will be three :)

Now that I've shared what's kept me away (I hope by now you've forgiven me), I must be honest... I'm not sure how blogging consistently is going to work with my new life. I'm not at all saying that I'm going away for good -- just haven't figured everything out yet. That's OK, right?
I've had requests to do modest maternity wear, but truth be told, I haven't been feeling very fashionable lately. Plus -- maternity clothes are expensive! I'm open to your suggestions though.

Thanks for always allowing me to share a little from my heart. This blog means so much to me, and I'm determined to find a way to keep it going. (I'm even scheduled to attend a bloggers' conference this weekend to get some fresh ideas!) Your support, patience, comments and prayers do more than you could ever imagine. For that, I'm so very grateful.

Hope to be back soon!

Love,
Typh

Three-Year Wedding Anniversary

Today marks three years since I married my best friend, my partner, my love, my heart... my husband, Dwayne Stewart. He's one of the most caring, considerate, and surely the most handsome man I know! One of the best things I could have ever done was say "I will" and "I do" three years ago, and through our ups and downs, I've never regretted it.

Babe, thank you for keeping me grounded in God, teaching me so much about myself, and loving me in the process. I love and respect you more than you'll ever know!

Love, Your Wife,
Typhanie

To my readers -- Thank you for remaining faithful to the blog. I won't be giving up blogging any time soon, but I will be taking an extended break, of course popping in here and there until I can blog regularly again.
I appreciate you all for understanding. See you soon :)
