Freedom

Denim Tee: Old Navy | Skirt: Forever 21 | Shoes: Forever 21 | Crossbody Bag: Forever 21

Super easy casual look today. I like to feel free in what I'm wearing once in a while...
And yes, I am wearing a short-sleeved denim tee and cork wedges in the winter.
Sorry, northerners.

Former Things; Things to Come

Dress: Thrifted, Plato's Closet | Cardigan: Sears | Shoes: Urban Outfitters | Belt: Thrifted, Goodwill | Bag: Ross

I know we're still in January, and I'm not supposed to be wearing a lightweight floral dress yet, but what can I say? I live in a state that has a two-day long winter (if you can call it "winter").

On another note, I'm happy to discover how versatile this thrifted dress is. I've worn it with brown, purple, and now yellow. Green next, maybe? We'll see.

Oh My "Sole"

Top: Forever 21 | Skirt: Worthington for JCPenney | Belt: Forever 21 | Shoes: Sole Society | Clutch: Aldo
Ok, so I'm not usually one for shoes with a high platform, but having one pair won't hurt, would it? These peep-toe slingback booties from Sole Society are surprisingly comfortable, and perfect for date night with the husband...

Speaking of Sole Society*, you've heard of them, yes? It's an online store that sells shoes starting at $49.95. New styles are released every day, sales and contests are always going on, and shipping is free both ways. Check them out by clicking below, and let me know what you think!

To Thine Own Self Be True

Top: JCrew | Skirt: Worthington for JCPenney | Belt: Forever 21 | Shoes: Guess via Macy's | Clutch: Forever 21

Every once in a while, I get emails from readers that really encourage me. They're usually from young women like myself who were inspired in some way by this blog and want to learn more about modest dressing. When I get those emails, I feel extremely humbled not only by the fact that people actually read and get something from my posts but that they are compelled enough to email me. It blows me away every time.

I suppose I get that feeling because I'm no expert on modesty. It wasn't until college that I made the decision to dress the way that I do and feel confident and happy about it. The "confident and happy about it" part came when I took my decision a step further by committing to still be the fashionably conscious person I am while sticking to my personal style. Did you know that if you choose to dress modestly, you can still be true to your personal style? I didn't think so until I tried it, and I haven't looked back since.

Un-Perfect

Top: The Limited | Cardigan-Sweater: The Limited | Skirt: The Limited
Shoes: Qupid (Gift from my Mommy) | Bag: Forever 21

If I never told you what really happens when I take photos, you would never know. But of course I go through the entire roll to make sure I pick the most near-perfect shots and then remind you just how "un-perfect" I really am in a little blurb underneath... kinda like what I'm about to right now.

Friends.... When I tell you I had one of the most horrifying near-fall experiences in this outfit, please believe it. I almost went crashing down to the ground after tripping on... well... I can't recall tripping on anything in particular, but that's not the point. (Confession: I'm slightly very clumsy.) The point is, it would have been a gruesome fall resulting in the loss of some teeth and severe hand, elbow, and knee scrapes. But God! I don't know what caught me, but I'm sure glad I lived to tell the story.

The good news is, no one saw this embarrassing episode. Not even my husband would have noticed had it not been for my ear-piercing screech of fear that gave it away. I'll have to work on toning that down a bit. Pray my strength.

I Can See Clearly Now

Dress: Old Navy | Vest: Old Navy | Tights: Ninewest | Boots: Mossimo for Target | Glasses: c/o Firmoo

Hi, fam! It feels so good to blog again. Oh, how I've missed you all.

This is where you express how much you've missed me too... I'll wait........... Aww! Thanks ;)

Well now that we've gotten the mushy reunion out of the way, let's move on to the post!

Yes -- those are glasses on my face. I was extremely glad when Firmoo reached out to me to offer a pair of free glasses through their site. All I had to pay was shipping! When I got the email, I scheduled an appointment with the eye doctor the next day. I wanted to take advantage of the 'no-brainer' deal right away.

Fun fact: I've needed prescription lenses since about the fourth grade. I started out with glasses, then quickly moved to contacts which I wore for several years, and then stopped wearing corrective lenses all together a few years ago. (Bad Typhanie, just bad.) Thankfully, my vision isn't horrible and it didn't get much worse due to my negligence.

I'm still not a glasses girl, but why would I pass up a free pair? I tend to go for very simple styles, but Firmoo has so many different frames to choose from. The best part is, YOU can get a free pair too! Whether you prefer prescription or non-prescription lenses, or if you just want the frames by themselves, get them for FREE -- just pay shipping. Take a look at Firmoo's selection by clicking here.*

By the way, did I mention that I'm glad to be back? I have so many exciting things planned, I can hardly wait! Please be sure to stop by again tomorrow :)

Pinspiration // Street Style

Hello!

First, let me apologize for the lame New Year's greeting and lack of posts this week. I've been so sick, and I've just started to feel better. Needless to say, I haven't been up to taking outfit photos. But, because I've missed you all, and also because I will be taking a little break from blogging for the next few weeks, I wanted to do a post today... Even if it is as random as this one.

The randomness started yesterday evening. While at Target picking up some medicine, you won't believe what happened to me. (Well, maybe you will. Apparently a lot of people have this problem when they go to Target.) I was mezmerized by the goodies in the clearance section, and the next thing I knew, I was in the checkout line with a denim shirt, a skirt, and some black booties with glittery heels. Oh, and thankfully yes, I did remember the medicine. The best part is that I used a gift card I got for Christmas, so it was a guilt-free treat. Yay me!

When I got home, I tried everything on at once, and I was pleasantly surprised at the look. I hadn't planned on wearing any of the pieces together, so the ensemble was quite accidental. It reminded me of some street style inspirations I've seen recently on blogs and Pinterest. Living in South Florida, I don't get to see the street fashion I would in New York or Paris. People don't really walk here, and if they do, most pedestrians aren't particularly fashion forward. For that reason, I'm very grateful for Pinterest!

Here are some street style fashions I've pinned:
I like these looks because they are feminine, edgy, and modest all at the same time! I'm a bit of a girly girl when it comes to clothes (nothing else really), but adding some edge to an outfit
intrigues me.

This post was very random, but hopefully some of you like it.
Happy weekend!
