Full Bloom

Top: Bloom (similar) | Skirt: Forever 21 (similar) | Shoes: Gianni Bini (similar) | Bag: Ecko Red via Ross

I got this blouse a while ago from blogger Kendi's store Bloom. I wasn't sure how I was going to style it, but I knew I wanted to wear it with either these mule sandals (which I've had forever, and this season mules happen to be in style) or my Zara heels (from this post) to bring out the pop of color. I chose a brown and white bag to brighten things up a bit.

Separately and unrelated to my styling thought process, somehow my baby's stroller crept its way into two of these shots so I had to crop it out. Yes, Baby Adam has been helping Mommy with blog photos.
Train a child up in the way he should go, right?

One Step Closer

Dress: Ross (similar) | Shoes: Ross (similar) | Bag: Ross (similar)

As I mentioned in a previous post, I was at a loss when it came to my closet and what to wear just after having my son. I had to take a step back to reevaluate my style as a new mom. Thanks to stores like Ross and Marshall's (and a little bit of thrift and online sale shopping), I was able to refresh my closet just a tad without breaking the bank. Now I'm one step closer to getting my closet to where I want it to be for spring and summer. Maybe one more splurge will do the trick.
(Husband, I know you're reading this... It'll be okay. I'll exercise caution.)

A Modest Take // Mixing Spring Trends

Mixing Spring Trends

There are so many classic spring trends (i.e. bright colors, florals and heeled sandals) and some that are new to the scene that I'm excited to try -- for example, the grid print, perforated accessories and a cropped top
(paired with the right high waist midi skirt for a modest look, of course!).

That being said, I was inspired to create looks by mixing and matching some of this year's trends for spring.
What are you looking forward to wearing this season?

No Trespassing

Shirt: Forever 21 (similar) | Skirt: Thrifted (similar) | Shoes: Zara (similar) | Clutch: LoveCortnie

This was a boring black and white outfit until -- "POW" -- this clutch came into the mix. It's funny how my background implicitly explains my sense of style too. I'll experiment, but I know my limits. This clutch attracts enough attention as it is, so putting it against an outfit that's a lot more toned down helps me to meet my goal of "interesting, but not overwhelming". Beyond that? I'll let the fashionistas cross that line.

Tribal

Dress: Thrifted (alternative) | Shoes: Zara (similar) | Belt + Clutch: Forever 21

I was drawn to the print of this dress when I saw it in the thrift store. One of my personal style goals has been to incorporate bolder prints into my wardrobe. A little out of my comfort zone, but for just a couple of bucks, this dress definitely meets the "bold" criteria.

An Unexpected Choice

Dress: Ross (similar) | Blazer: Forever 21 | Shoes: Zara | Clutch: Love,Cortnie

Coordinating to the "T" can be boring, don't you think? Sometimes I take a leap of faith and go with an unexpected choice. Besides, animal print is officially a neutral now, so I'm still playing it pretty safe with this get-up.

On another note, do you remember when I shared with you a while back that I'll literally stalk an item I love until I can find it at the best possible price?

Yep... Nothing's changed.

I bought these Zara shoes on sale in black during Zara's end of Spring/Summer 2012 knowing I wanted them in every color. I spent the rest of that year and part of 2013 looking for this green & blue combo and the red & purple pair for reasonable prices. Like always, my persistence paid off.

Sound the Trumpets

Top: Marshalls (similar) | Skirt: ASOS via eBay (LOVE this black & white version!) | Shoes: Aldo (similar) | Clutch: Thrifted (similar)

Hot pink midi trumpet skirt? Yes, please.

Nearing the end of my pregnancy, and just after, I was feeling very lost in my closet. I did absolutely no shopping while I was pregnant. My maternity clothes were inherited, and I sent my husband to buy something decent that would fit me for our baby shower. (He did well, by the way.) So, re-learning my personal style and making it relevant after nine months of being out of the loop felt overwhelming. Finding this skirt instantly gave me the pick-me-up I needed to get motivated. I had to have it.

While it's definitely not a skirt I could get away with wearing every other week, it's surprisingly versatile. I'm wearing it with black here, but it also goes well with white, dressed up with black and white printed blouses, or dressed down with worded or graphic tees.

Typhanie for the win. Sound the trumpets.

New Beginnings

Dress: Top Shop via eBay (similar) | Shoes: Calvin Klein via Ross | Belt & Bag: Ross (similar)

Notice anything new? I mean... Besides the adorable baby repeatedly appearing in my Instagram feed directly to the right of this post.

Yes, you guessed it. My Garments of Praise has a new design! I figured I couldn't come back to you guys, pick up where I left off and not "up my game" a little bit. Plus, I wanted to start fresh and give the old blog a much needed face lift. I hope you like it...

Well, a lot has happened during my time away. Too much to try to cram it all into this one post, so I'll try to share bits and pieces as they come. I would be remiss, though, if I did not officially announce that my baby boy, Adam Cooper Stewart, was born in December! He's my greatest life accomplishment to-date, and I'm loving motherhood. I'm sure he'll make his way onto the blog at some point, but if you want constant updates, be sure to follow me on Instagram @typhaniestewart.

My second announcement is that this post marks my official return to the blog. My posts may not be as frequent as before (I used to post 3-5 times a week!), but I will do my best to be consistent. Thank you so much for your patience and encouragement. I have some wonderful ideas in store, so stay tuned!

Oh, and since I'm starting fresh, please tell me what you'd like to see around here. Share your thoughts by leaving a comment below. Thanks!
